Project 2

Module 2

The aim of this project is to explore data as space, location, and geography using various mapping tools. The final map visualize the average monthly income by region (2018) in 3D vertical height, and the percentage of poor households in Vietnam by region (2018) in color from white to red. This map aims to help reader to quickly see and understand the correlation of the two phenomenon.

Spatial Workshop 1

This is the beehive near the gym. I have never been to this place, thinking that is was not part of the school. This is the mosiac mural that in the connecting hallway between the AA buildings. I found it very interesting every time I walk by it. I also wonders what material is used to make it. These head statues are outside the AA building, quite near the mosiac mural. I never look at this part of the school before, so I was suprised to see them and found them to be very funny.

Spatial Workshop 2

This is our ideas for modifing a space at the beehive in Sheridan College. For the first idea, it was a small garden with stalls nearby. Another idea was to use makey makey and touch designer to create special effects or music when bees or human touch the flowers. The last image was a refinement to the first idea, a bee festival (speakers, stalls, signage) with a small garden at the back.

This is the final map visualizing the average monthly income by region in Vietnam (2018) in 3D vertical height, and the percentage of poor households in Vietnam by region (2018) in color from white to dark red. The color red was chosen because it emphasize the severity of how much poor people there are in Vietnam.
